First batch of 165 Cows from 4,000 reported earlier in various media a month ago landed in Doha this evening by Qatar Airways Cargo flight. Through reliable sources, it has come to know that keeping in view the harsh weather of Qatar, newly arrived animals will be kept in specially built air-conditioned shelters at the Baladna Farms on North Road towards AlKhor city.
It has also come to know that cows are sourced from Germany and flown from Budapest to Doha this evening. Milk production from these cows is expected reaching in local markets in a week time.
‘Baladna’ farms is one of the 40 sister concerns of Qatar based ‘Power International Holding’, which claims having largest sheep livestock in GCC and the Middle East, it produces fresh sheep milk and meat in Qatar. Baladna Farms have capacity to keep around 4,000 cows.
It is learned that as various facilities to keep safe and healthy these animals will be ready, Baladna will keep getting more of the animals.
Present to receive the first shipment from expected World’s largest bovine airlift in history were officials of Baladna and Joury Logistics.
It is to note that Saudi Arabia led blocked of State of Qatar since Holy month of Ramadan this year has disrupted trade, split families, inter-state large investments in danger to collapse. To meet immediate shortage of milk, it was prompted a Qatari businessman to fly the cows to Qatar to meet needs of the local market.
