Brussels, October 05 (QNA) – Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs announced a Qatari donation of $10 million towards achieving prosperity and peace in Afghanistan. He was speaking at the two days Brussels Conference on Afghanistan organized by EU and the Afghan government. He told that $6 million will be allocated for printing school curricula and remaining $4 million for development projects. 70 countries and 25 international organizations have attended the conference.
Al Muraikhi said that Qatar was committed throughout last 12 years in providing political and financial support to Afghanistan, offering $56.5 million in form of in-kind and humanitarian aid as well as donations to organizations and entities.
The minister told Qatar’s political support to Afghanistan by mediating between various Afghani factions in order to reach peace and stability in the country and the region. He told Qatar’s hosting of the dialogue between Taliban movement and other stake holders during last over two years. Al Muraikhi lauded Afghan government’s efforts and commitment to the reform program in areas of political, security, economic and on financial fronts to handle national and regional challenges.
Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi stressed for a peaceful solution and dialogue towards a comprehensive political process that ends violence and brings peace to the country. He hoped that the conference will result in tangible outcome that helps in the progress and construction of the country, and supporting the rights of its people in building their own future and achieving their ambitions.
