Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al -Thani, Emir  of State of Qatar has said that over 650 US companies are operating in Qatar and bilateral trade volume between State of Qatar and United States reached $125 billion, and that the plan aims to double these figures in the near future.

Emir of Qatar was addressing at a reception hosted in his honour by US-Qatar Business Council and the Chamber of Commerce of the USA, at the Chamber’s Headquarters,

He highlighted prominent features of Qatar-US economic cooperation in his address on the occasion.  He said that Qatar is the fastest growing economy in the Middle East region and expressed the hope to work hand in hand with the United States.

Among speakers included  Wilbur Ross, US Secretary of Commerce, Steven Terner Mnuchin, US Treasury Secretary,  Tom J. Donohue, President and Board Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce of USA,  Ambassador Anne Patterson, President of the US-Qatar Business Council, and Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al- Thani, Minister of Economy and Commerce, State of Qatar highlighted the strong Qatari-US relations and the joint cooperation in the fields of economy, trade and investment. The speakers mentioned the volume of trade exchange between the two countries and promising future opportunities in these areas for the benefit of both countries and friendly peoples.

They also noted the strong Qatari economy and the volume of the rapid growth despite the siege, referring to the success of Qatari projects, which benefit the two sides and the common interest.

Among the guests included ministers, current and former members of Congress, diplomats, prominent politicians and businessmen.

Emir of Qatar and the audience exchanged views on ways to enhance cooperation between the State of Qatar and the United States, especially in Washington, DC, in various sectors including political,  economy, trade and investment.
